High School Learning Activities

  • Guiding Principles

Education is a conscious and planned effort that aims to provide an atmosphere for learning for the students. In this atmosphere, they will develop their knowledge, skills, and sense of self, so they may realize their full potential and act as active individuals that benefit their society. SMA Kharisma Bangsa wants all of our students to be lifelong learners, lovers of knowledge and self growth, with inherent curiosity about their world. That is why our school always puts the students in the center of learning activities. We realize that mastery of knowledge or a particular skill requires the students to do the learning, where the teacher acts more as a guide on the side rather than a sage on the stage. Students must be given ample opportunity to experience things, to make mistakes and learn from them, to think and be reflective of their choices and actions, and that is exactly what we do. Our teachers assess the students’ progress and make adjustments to their method of instruction based on the assessment results. Effective assessment is a part of our holistic approach, and when conducted effectively, an assessment will not become stressful exams or tests, instead, the students will consider them as challenges and opportunities to measure their mettle, and gladly prepare and take the challenges.

SMA Kharisma Bangsa understands that to educate our students we have to have working cooperation with their parents/guardians. The school and parents must stand on the same page about why, what, and how to educate these students. Our parents are our esteemed partners in this noble effort, we respect your ideas and suggestions, and we expect your full support and cooperation while we educate our students, together.

  • What We Do

As an SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) our school provides both national and international curriculums. Three subjects Pendidikan Agama dan Budi Pekerti, Bahasa Indonesia, and Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan are delivered in Indonesian and based on National curriculum requirements and syllabus. Other subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, are delivered in English based on Cambridge curriculum, IGCSE for 10th grade, and AS & A Level for 11th and 12th grades. We put emphasis on math and science education, but it does not mean that language, humanities, and arts subjects are neglected, they are equally important.

As a co-educational school, we are unique. We separate boys’ and girls’ classes. We believe it will help them concentrate more on their lessons, alleviate stress and pressure, promote camaraderie among the students, and it’s simply proven that it works for us. Boys and girls still have the opportunity to interact and work together in other settings especially in extracurricular activities such as OSIS, TOSKA, and many others. SMA Kharisma Bangsa is known for many things, and we are proud of our science olympiad (TOSKA) and basketball (KB EAGLES) teams’ achievements.

We understand that the quality of education in a school will only be as strong as the quality of the teachers in that school. Our teachers are dedicated to providing the best education for all of our students. They are willing to go the extra mile to help our students. Our homeroom teachers are warm and close to their students, always ready to help them. They also work closely with parents, informing their children’s challenges and progress in the school. Our Guidance Counselors work closely with homeroom and subject teachers to make sure that our student’s academic and personal achievements are up to our standards. Our College Counselors are helping our students to prepare for college and university, working closely with homeroom teachers and parents. All civitas academia of SMA Kharisma Bangsa strives together to ensure the success of our students.

For our parents and students that chose to stay in school dorms, our dorm will become their home away from home. They will learn and experience living together with diverse people, how to work together, tolerate others, and have harmonious coexistence. They will learn how to communicate with others, manage their time, diversify their activities, and be more independent. Our dormitory mentors will help them in every aspect of their dorm lives.
